Maggie

Nominated By:

A Dear Friend

The Story:

Maggie, until recently, was like sunshine in a bottle, always willing to roll up her sleeves and help with whatever was needed. The beautiful 81-year-old was the person to volunteer to wear the silly costume at the fundraiser or the one to jump up on a table and belt out a song. Unfortunately, Maggie tripped while walking home after helping a visually impaired woman get home safely. Maggie needed to be resuscitated more than once. The whole experience left her bruised and battered both inside and out. In true Maggie style, she manages at least in public to put a funny spin on the event, saying she was more upset by the fact that paramedics had to cut off her favourite bra to carry out CPR than by being rushed to hospital. In private, she is more tearful, worried that the effects of her traumatic event, the confusion, tiredness, and forgetfulness, will not heal. Maggie has put a smile on so many faces, so let’s try and help bring back Maggie’s own sunshine smile.

Likes:

Maggie loves receiving and collecting cards, having new adventures in her camper van (named Tilly), and having fun – no matter how silly she might look.
