200+ Love Letters for Lydia

This spring, we had the opportunity to encourage Lydia - a recent high school graduate in need of some light.

Lydia is described by her friend as “the most joyful person I have ever met.” Despite facing significant health challenges, Lydia carries a wisdom beyond her years and handles her struggles with unfathomable maturity. A friend to everyone she meets and unapologetically kind, Lydia is sunshine on the darkest day.

Her life has been filled with health struggles, and she’s persevered with no clear diagnosis in sight. Most days, she is stuck at home, in bed and isolated from her friends’ lives. While she has faced many disappointments at not being able to live the same life as most girls her age, Lydia is always the first to encourage others. She deserved a dose of the same joy that she brings to everyone around her - and MLL friends, you knew exactly what to do. 

Lydia received over 200 love letters from all across the world. Her friend shared that Lydia was “speechless” when she received the bundle. 

“She is slowly reading through each letter as she starts treatment for a rare kind of Lymes disease,” Lydia’s friend wrote. “Her mom keeps commenting on how much joy they are bringing her. We couldn’t be more grateful for the gift of these letters. Thank you for coordinating this and for giving people hope!”
